Subject:  CF Quarterly Programmatic and Supporter Update

We wanted to update you on the work of the Clinton Foundation, including the impact that our programs have had in the first quarter of 2016, the posting of the donors who have made this work possible, and new steps we are taking to increase learning around CGI members' Commitments to Action.

Today we announced progress on work that the Clinton Foundation's initiatives have made in the first quarter of 2016. Some highlights include:

* At their fifth annual Health Matters Summit, the Clinton Health Matters Initiative launched their sixth community health transformation program, a new naloxone agreement with Adapt Pharma to provide discounted pricing for the company's nasal spray product, Narcan, and a new partnership with Harvard Medical School to support employee health improvement.

* The Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership launched a new coconut sugar supply chain enterprise pilot in Indonesia. In January, CGEP secured commitments for 3.5 tons of coconut sugar, which has been purchased by Unilever. As of the end of March, CGEP completed its first transaction and sourced 1.6 tons of coconut sugar from Bengkulu.

* In February, the Clinton Global Initiative and partners launched the Detroit Home Mortgage Initiative, a secondary loan product that will make funding available to 1,000 qualified home borrowers to cover both purchasing and renovation costs.

* Chelsea Clinton launched the Clinton Climate Initiative's Women in Island Energy Network, which provides leadership development, skills enhancement, and mentoring.

This progress would not have been possible without the incredible generosity of our donors. As an operating foundation, we rely on their support to fund these programs. As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability, today at noon, we will also be releasing our list of donors who gave in the 1stQuarter of 2016, helping make the impact we are announcing today possible.

Last year, several independent charitable experts noted the Clinton Foundation's excellence in philanthropy:

* The American Institute of Philanthropy's "Charity Watch" awarded the Clinton Foundation an "A" rating for its financial performance, noting that the Foundation spent 89 percent of its 2013 expenses on charitable programs and activities:http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/clinton-foundation-factcheck-org-donations/2015/06/19/id/651411/

* GuideStar has lauded the Foundation for our "commitment to data transparency":http://www.guidestar.org/profile/31-1580204

* Devex published a piece that gives an overview of the diverse, life changing work of the Clinton Foundation: "Since Hillary Clinton left to pursue the presidency, the foundation has been thrust into the spotlight not for the impact of its programs, but for questions surrounding foreign donations, conflicts of interest, and internal politics. What has received less attention are the foundation's programs, and the professionals who lead them insist they are hard at work and won't be slowed down by an election in which the foundation itself has become an issue...The Clinton Foundation, a public charity, is a direct service provider, rather than a foundation in the traditional sense."

Finally, today in a note to CGI members, Director of Commitments Elsa Palanza announced that to encourage continuous learning for our members and to strengthen future Commitments to Action made through CGI, we will update our online search directory to reflect every commitment ever made. Devex reported on how this action will help to encourage our community to learn and adapt and to reflect on what's worked and what hasn't:

"The Clinton Global Initiative, part of the Clinton Foundation, has announced it will publish all of its previously undisclosed, or private, commitments and that all future commitments will be made public. The policy change, announced Friday in a letter to CGI members and shared with Devex in advance, is part of an ongoing effort to improve effectiveness through learning and measurement, according to CGI leaders."

"CGI has been working on metrics and measurement since its inception a decade ago, eager to show its role has added impact and that the partnerships enshrined in commitments wouldn't have just happened anyway. This latest announcement is part of that ongoing evolution, Ed Hughes, deputy director of CGI, told Devex."
